  • Home Composting Advice

    These compostable bags can be composted at home. Beco recommend the following steps fot the best results:

    1. In your home composter have 1 part sawdust to 2 parts dog waster. The carbon in the sawdust offsets the nitrogen in the dog poo, naturally creating the optimum conditions for composting.
    2. Cover your compost pile with a dark sheet of non-absorbent material or composter lid. This helps absorb the heat from the sun and lock in the warmth, helping to kill the harmful bacteria in the dog poo.
    3. Turn your compost weekly and check the temperature with a thermometer. Your compost must reach 73˚C for 5 days to kill the bacteria in your dog's poop
    4. Roughly four to six weeks later your crumbly compost will be ready to feed your non-edible plants. Only use on ornamental plants and not on edible plants!
